The Dark Side

Starting from Bellinzona, pedal northwards to Arbedo and then descend close to the riverbank. As you enter the heart of the Piano di Magadino, agricultural field mingle with vineyards and the numerous farms are worth a stop to buy some of the local products. 

The route then runs along the shores of Lake Maggiore to Gerra Gambarogno. The return journey takes you along the hillside to Artore, the highest point of the route, from where Bellinzona and its castles can once again be admired. Finally descend towards the center to enjoy a well-deserved refreshment in Piazza Collegiata in Bellinzona.
